Bringing Light and Elegance to Denmead: A Refined Home Extension

When our client in Denmead came to us, he wanted a space that blended relaxation with practicality—a light-filled extension where he could enjoy his garden in comfort, no matter the season. His existing uPVC conservatory was outdated, with poor thermal insulation making it too hot in summer and too cold in winter. The full glazing also put less appealing areas of the garden, like storage spaces, on display.

Our solution? A high-quality orangery-style extension that not only improved temperature control but also created a seamless flow between indoors and outdoors.

A Build Focused on Comfort and Style

Working with our local architect partners GRK Architecture, our priority was to construct an extension that:

We constructed a box-shaped brick extension, providing a durable and timeless aesthetic. The design was elevated with a detailed dentil course, adding depth and character to the brickwork while ensuring a cohesive look with the original property.

To flood the space with light, we incorporated a roof lantern, drawing brightness into both the extension and the adjoining kitchen and lounge. By night, discreet under-lighting creates a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living

A key feature of this build was bifold doors, which open fully to merge indoor and outdoor spaces. This makes it effortless for our client to step into the garden, whether for entertaining guests or enjoying a quiet morning coffee. For added privacy, we installed frosted glazing on the side elevations, ensuring storage areas remained hidden without compromising on light.

Smart Construction for a Smooth Build

Before construction began, we conducted a thorough assessment of the property’s drainage and sewer systems. We found only a redundant private sewage system, meaning we could proceed with minimal disruptions.

Our original design considered a cantilevered structure, but we refined it to achieve a more cohesive and structurally sound aesthetic. The final build features:

✔ A parapet roof with coping stones, ensuring effective drainage and durability.
✔ Sustainable materials chosen for longevity and efficiency.
