Transforming a family home in Petersfield

At Oaklands Road in Petersfield, Our Space was appointed to deliver the full construction of a major home transformation, working closely with GRK Architecture, who led the architectural design. The aim was to turn an existing detached house into a bright, spacious and future-ready family home that better supports modern family life.

The project involved a first-floor extension, a large rear addition and a reconfigured internal layout to improve flow, natural light and everyday usability. The upper level was transformed to create a generous principal bedroom with a dressing area and en suite, along with an additional living space that takes advantage of long views across the surrounding landscape.

At the rear of the property, the new open-plan kitchen, dining and living area now forms the heart of the home. Large glazed doors, rooflights and carefully positioned windows flood the space with natural light and create a strong connection to the garden, making it ideal for both family life and entertaining.

Practical spaces such as a boot room, utility area and shower room were introduced through the garage conversion, helping the home function smoothly day to day. These additions allow the main living areas to remain calm, uncluttered and focused on family living.

Externally, refined detailing, carefully chosen materials and a refreshed front elevation give the property a more confident, contemporary presence on the street, while still respecting the character of the surrounding homes.

Through close collaboration with GRK Architecture and the homeowners, Our Space delivered a high-quality build that brings the design vision to life, creating a home that feels considered, comfortable and built to last.
